Wellness Network Mission

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide information that promotes  an individual right to self-determination: the right of all people to make their own personal health care choices in their healing process. In order to have that right in the fullest sense of the word, we believe that people must have access to the broadest range of health care options, practitioners, treatments, and truthful information.

Restrictive health practice laws in America, reflecting only the conventional medical approach to health care, prohibit a multitude of healing practices. Yes, your right to access a variety of healing therapies, ranging from naturopathy and homeopathy, to massage therapy, to therapeutic touch, are severely limited, and we need a strong State alliance  to stand up and reclaim our right to access all of health care. That’s where the Wellness Network  comes in.

The Wellness Network is calling together all individuals and groups interested in preserving their freedom of access to complete health care. The purpose of this call is to build a united voice, and send a clear message of health freedom. A more acceptable balance must be created between individual rights to self-determination and free choice, and the government’s concerns for public safety.

“We are a group of professional organizations, grass roots groups, natural products manufacturers and concerned citizens who have banded together to promote health freedom of choice in Texas.  We promote the rights of Texas  to access and have freedom of choice in natural, spiritual and traditional healthcare services and products. Promoting and protecting the safety and purity of our natural resources. Providing information, awareness and educational opportunities to support individuals and families in making well-informed healthcare decisions.”

What We Believe
Individuals have the right to self-determination in making their own health care choices. However when health care options are eliminated through restrictive laws and regulations, choices are eliminated and access becomes meaningless. When this happens the people suffer and must work to protect their rights and retain their options.

The goal  is to create an environment in which laws and public policy are no longer based on unfair discrimination against particular practitioners or treatments, or on the demands of special interest groups or institutions, but rather are based on true issues of the healing relationship, i.e., an informed environment, ethical conduct of practitioners, reasonable standards of actual harm, and available avenues for client complaints. Public policy and laws will need to change to reflect health freedom values.

We Support Alternative Healthcare with the
Texas Health Freedom Alliance

We promote the access to all health care information, services, treatments, and products; to promote an understanding of the laws and factors impacting the right to access; and to promote the health of the people of this nation.

“We Stand for the rights of Texas to access and have freedom of choice in natural and traditional healthcare services and products. Promoting and protecting the safety and purity of our natural resources. Providing information, awareness and educational opportunities to support individuals and families in making well-informed healthcare decisions.”

This mission calls for respect of our individual rights to self-determination: the right of all people to make their own personal health care choices in their healing process. In order to have that right in the fullest sense of the word, we believe that people must have access to the broadest range of health care options, practitioners, treatments, and truthful information.

Laws and public policy should no longer be based on unfair discrimination against particular practitioners or treatments, or on the demands of special interest groups or institutions, but rather should be based on true issues of the healing relationship, i.e., an informed environment, ethical conduct of practitioners, reasonable standards of actual harm, and available avenues for client complaints. In order to carry out this expansive mission we are gathering together distinguished courageous health freedom leaders from across Texas .

We support the Texas Health Freedom Movement based on the idea that conventional medicine covers a relatively small subset of existing healing techniques. By definition, the remainder fall into the category of alternative practices. We believe that individuals have a right to choose their own treatment, rather than having it imposed upon them, even when this treatment is outside the mainstream of conventional medicine. This includes Natural, complementary, & alternative health care that Texas citizens use every day including homeopathy, naturopathy, acupuncture, spiritual healing and massage therapy. Below is a list of the following disciplines that are being affected negatively by present health care laws :

  • Aromatherapy/essential oils
  • Ayurveda
  • Colostrum therapy
  • Culturally traditional healing (plant medicines/food, ceremonies, prayer, and songs)
  • Detoxification practices/therapies
  • Energetic healing
  • Folk practices
  • Gerson therapy
  • Healing practices utilizing food, dietary supplements, and nutrients
  • Healing practices utilizing physical forces of heat, cold, water, touch and light
  • Healing touch
  • Herbology or herbalism
  • Holistic kinesiology and other muscle testing techniques
  • Homeopathy
  • Meditation
  • Mind-body healing practices
  • Naturopathy
  • Nutrition
  • Nondiagnostic iridology
  • Polarity therapy
  • Supplements
  • Spiritual Healing including Reiki, Reconnective Therapy, Past Life Regression

Another objective in the movement is to prevent alternative products - such as vitamins, minerals, herbals, botanicals, amino acids and other food supplements - from being regulated as if they were drugs, which requires millions of dollars and decades to approve. Instead, the dietary supplement industry wants them to remain classified as fo
